Multiple Personalities

Diluted acrylic paint, led pencil and condensed charcoal on watercolour paper

11"x 15"

This piece was inspired by a lesson plan I developed in which drawings were produced from stains similar to those of Rorschach personality tests.  The first thing I noticed in my paint stain were two faces of primates.  Given the reference to Rorschach stains, I thought of human personality types. It sometimes seems as though certain personality traits contradict each other giving the impression that we have multiple personalities.  I chose to draw two portraits of a single subject demonstrating two facial expressions to illustrate the different faces of a single individual.
